Gwendolyn Bye, Director of the Gwendolyn Bye Dance Center, trained at the Philadelphia Performing Arts School, the Pennsylvania Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, and the Martha Graham School, where she received a Helena Rubenstein Scholar Award.
She returned to Philadelphia in 1985 and opened the Gwendolyn Bye Dance Center and became artistic director of the University of Pennsylvania's Penn Dance. That same year she was placed on the roster for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, as a Dance Movement Specialist for the Artists in Education Program. She later founded a modern dance repertory company.
Ms. Bye choreographs and presents numerous concerts, outreach performances and workshops, each year for both her school and company. Gwendolyn teaches, ballet, pointe, modern, acting, singing and musical theater.
