Director of Instructor Education and Senior Staff at Core Pilates NYC, Sarah Elliott Schlinder hails from St. Charles, IL, a suburb of Chicago.
She began dancing at the age of 3 and received a Grade V certification in the Cecchetti Ballet Method. In college she incorporated her dance skills into a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Theatre major at Illinois Wesleyan University, which included primary training in classical vocal and acting technique, as well as Graham and Horton based modern dance. Sarah also minored in Arts Management.
She then completed the MFA Acting program at the Yale School of Drama where she learned many disciplines of expression and movement, including the Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais Method, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Fitzmaurice Technique, Laban, Yoga and Pilates.
Today Sarah works in New York City as an actress as well as Pilates instructor. She has appeared in several TV shows (Law & Order: SVU, Chappelle's Show, Guiding Light), Off-Broadway plays, commericials, and one feature film (Birth, starring Nicole Kidman). She works as a fight choreographer and has assisted Broadway fight choreographer, Rick Sordelet, on direction for the New York Theatre Workshop, the Vineyard Theatre, and Westport Country Playhouse's production of All My Sons, starring Richard Dreyfuss and Jill Clayburgh.
Sarah lives in New City, NY. In her spare time she avidly watches baseball and has a fierce allegiance to the New York Yankees. She practices yoga and trapeze to complement her Pilates teaching.
